Job Title: Bartender
Reports to: Taproom General Manager
Department: Taproom
Classification: Hourly, Tipped
Location: Night Shift Brewing, Everett

Summary:
Bartenders are responsible for the experience that each guest has when visiting our Taproom. Bartenders are responsible for serving all of our guests quickly, professionally and with a friendly demeanor. Bartenders are also responsible for the general cleanliness of all work stations and guest facing spaces.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greet customers promptly, within 45 seconds of their arrival, with a smile and acknowledgment. If you cannot get to a guest within the time frame, greet them and let them know you will be with them shortly.
  • Communicate with guests using clear and enthusiastic words, eye contact, tone and body language always. Make guests feel appreciated through your actions.
  • Be at full alert to guest signals, such as when they are raising their hands or looking directly at you, for orders.
  • Process transactions using the POS system including guest payments and make change accurately
  • Work as a team with all Night Shift Brewing's personnel to maintain an effective atmosphere and efficient service.
  • Lead tours and educate our customers about our beer, beer in general and the processes behind making it
  • Be proactive about keeping the workspace behind the bar, the retail space, on the Taproom floor and bathrooms clean and fully stocked
  • Check identification of customers to verify they are of legal drinking age
  • Make recommendations to customers of beers that the Taproom has decided to highlight that shift
  • Limit problems related to customers' excessive drinking by following established procedures
  • Arrange merchandise and packaged beer into attractive and functional displays
  • Comply with all health, safety and hygiene standards and policies
  • Monitor inventory as needed
  • Perform all other duties as needed

Experience and Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • TIPS and/or Serve Safe certified
  • Crowd manager certified
  • Brewery experience a plus
  • Prior experience serving the public
  • Prior experience in fast paced hospitality

Skills:

  • Effective communication skills 
  • Efficient decision making in occasionally stressful situations
  • Awareness of signs indicating intoxication of guests and other concerning factors
  • Ability to work efficiently under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to make calculations and figure out change quickly.
  • A good memory to recall regular guests, remember drink orders from large groups etc.

Title: Bar Back
Reports to: Taproom Assistant Manager
Department: Taproom
Classification: Hourly, Tipped
Location: 87 Santilli Hwy; Everett, MA 02149

Summary:
The primary responsibility of a Bar Back is to ensure that the Taproom floor is clear of glassware and trash and to assist the bar in cleaning and restocking glassware, restocking packaged beer coolers and assist in flipping kegs when necessary. Other duties include maintenance throughout shifts of floors, furniture, restrooms and to perform other duties as assigned. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Keeping the workspace behind the bar, on the Taproom floor and bathrooms clean
  • Greet all guests within 5 feet with a smile
  • Respond promptly to requests from customers in a polite and professional fashion
  • Ensure clean glasses, bar equipment and working areas
  • Comply with all health, safety and hygiene standards and policies
  • Monitor inventory throughout shift
  • Restock bar glassware, kegs and retail cases and merchandise inventory as needed
  • Checks glass washers for proper chemical mixture and volume
  • Maintains soap and towels at hand sinks in all bars
  • Collect trash from all barrels throughout shift, as well as wiping down walls behind trash containers
  • Distributes clean bar towels, as well as, collects soiled ones and discards them in the appropriate place
  • Promptly and professionally handles guest issues and communicates problems and concerns to management
  • Thanks guest, offers a warm farewell, and invites them back upon departure
  • Attends, and satisfactorily completes all required training as assigned and required
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education & Experience:

Job Title: Door Staff
Reports to: Taproom General Manager
Department: Taproom
Classification: Hourly

Summary of Position: The Taproom Door Staff is responsible for keeping the Taproom guests and staff safe while also remaining welcoming calm always. One of the core duties is checking IDs of guests entering the building as well as pre-screening to head off any issues that may arise once in the space.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation

  • Politely greet all guests and welcome them to our Taproom
  • Provide security at the front door of our Taproom
  • Create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for guests here at Night Shift Brewing
  • Keep a cool head in stressful situations
  • Help maintain order on busy days of business
  • Check each guest's ID and ensure that it is a valid form of identification
  • Ensure that guests are not acting inappropriately, and help to protect our property and equipment from damage
  • Assist in ensuring that all access points and fire exits remain clear at all times
  • Interact and communicate effectively with first responders in emergency situations
  • Assist managers in controlling the number of guests in the taproom at all times
  • Assist in deescalating situations as needed
  • Assist in escorting guests out of the Taproom as needed
  • Refuse entry to guests showing signs of intoxication or cause concern
  • Remain in constant contact with floor manager
  • Ensure that intoxicated guests are not driving to the best of your ability

Education & Experience:

  • Prior experience checking IDs
  • Preferred prior experience in working door
  • Prior experience in the liquor or bar industry
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • TIPS certified
  • CPR & First Aid Certified
  • Crowd manager certification

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of beer production & packaging
  • Familiarity with basic styles of malt beverages and applicable raw materials required for production
  • History of Night Shift Brewing
  • Basic knowledge of craft beer industry

Skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with guests, co-workers and in some cases emergency responders
  • Keen sense of observation and awareness

Job Title: Wholesale Delivery Driver - Night Shift Distributing
Reports to: Director of Sales

Summary of Position:
The Delivery Driver is responsible for safely and knowledgeably delivering Night Shift Distributing products to our wholesale accounts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Load the Night Shift delivery vehicle with inventory
  • Deliver beer to all Night Shift accounts throughout MA (15-30 accounts per day)
  • Manage invoices and checks via the Encompass RAS system
  • Unload truck at end of day
  • Report to Management on a weekly basis to outline goals and tasks
  • Be punctual and professional, every day
  • Bring an energetic, cooperative, proactive, self-motivated attitude
  • Grow within Night Shift and expand your role as a key member of our team
  • Employ innovative, creative thinking
  • Lead and help other brewery employees as appropriate

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Entry level to 2 years delivery experience.
  • Clean driving record
  • Wholesale Alcohol delivery experience a plus.
  • CDL is a plus

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of beer styles and handling
  • Safe Operation of the Delivery Vehicle
  • Familiarity with NSD delivery Area
  • NSD partner brands and their packaging
  • Proper beer storage procedure

Skills:

  • Operate class 5 vehicle
  • Operate forklift.
  • Utilize a hand truck for deliveries
  • Proper palletization techniques
  • Strong directional skills
