Night Shift Brewing continues to expand and we’re looking for awesome individuals to help us create and
share world class beer. Currently, we are searching for a Brewe. We demand a lot from every one of our
employees, and this job is no different. A degree of self-sufficiency is a must, coupled with an interest in
learning processes and a keen eye for process improvement and quality. All of these mandatory
requirements come with the ability to develop a leadership role within Night Shift and move around
within brewery operations (though, honestly, we all do a lot of everything every day, which you’ll do too!)
The work demands of the job will be changing throughout your time here, so you’ll need to think quickly
and respond to changes quickly and effectively. We’re small and agile - we change all the time!

Summary of Position:
The Brewer is responsible for operations of the brewhouse, producing wort in an efficient manner that
meets the specs outlined by the recipe. In addition, he/she is responsible for Cellarperson duties,
including but not limited to, tank CIP, beer transfers and beer packaging. He/she will be in constant
communication with the Cellarperson that day in order to minimize cycle time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation

  • Understand and execute the daily schedules developed by the Production Manager
  • Follow and execute beer recipes so that wort is produced to specification
  • Follow all CIP SOPs for the end of the brewday in order to leave the brewhouse ready for the following day
  • Record meticulous notes regarding the brewday information (original gravities, pH, O2 content, etc.)

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • 3 years experience in a packaging brewery or high volume brewpub
  • QA/QC experience is a plus

Skills:

  • Operation of 20+ bbl 3-vessel brewhouse
  • Operation of various pumps, hosing, carbonation stones, Anton Paar C-Box and Anton Paar
  • DMA350 measuring devices
  • Operation of a Wild Goose 250 four head 16oz can filler and additional machinery
  • Operation of a Meheen four head 750mL bottle filler and additional machinery
  • CIP/COP understanding and execution
  • Understanding and use of PPE equipment for various chemical handling throughout the brewery

Title: Bartender
Classification: Hourly, tipped
Reports to: Taproom General Manager
Location: 87 Santilli Highway, Everett, MA

Summary of Position
Bartenders are responsible for the experience that each guest has when visiting our Taproom. Bartenders are responsible for serving all of our guests quickly, professionally and with a friendly demeanor. Bartenders are also responsible for the general cleanliness of all work stations and guest facing spaces.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greet customers promptly, within 45 seconds of their arrival, with a smile and acknowledgment. If you cannot get to a guest within the time frame, greet them and let them know you will be with them shortly.
  • Communicate with guests using clear words and enthusiasm, eye contact, and positive tone and body language. Make guests feel appreciated through your actions.
  • Be at full alert to guest signals, such as when they are raising their hands or looking directly at you, for orders.
  • Process guest payments using the POS system; make change accurately.
  • Work as a team with all Night Shift Brewing's personnel to maintain an effective atmosphere with efficient service.
  • Lead tours and educate our customers about our beer, beer in general, and the processes behind making it.
  • Be proactive about keeping the workspace behind the bar, the retail space, and the Taproom floor clean, with bathrooms clean and fully stocked.
  • Check identification of customers to verify they are of legal drinking age.
  • Recommend beers to customers that the Taproom has decided to highlight.
  • Limit problems related to customers' excessive drinking by following established procedures.
  • Arrange merchandise and packaged beer into attractive and functional displays.
  • Comply with all health, safety, and hygiene standards and policies.
  • Monitor inventory as needed.
  • Perform all other duties as needed.

Experience and Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • TIPS and/or Serve Safe certified
  • Crowd manager certified
  • Brewery experience a plus
  • Prior experience serving the public
  • Prior experience in fast paced hospitality environment

Title: Busser/Bar Back
Reports to: Taproom Assistant Manager
Classification: Hourly, Tipped
Location: 87 Santilli Highway, Everett, MA

Summary of Position
The primary responsibility of a Busser/Bar Back is to ensure that the Taproom floor is clear of glassware and trash, and to assist the bar in cleaning and restocking glassware, restocking packaged beer coolers, and flipping kegs when necessary. Other duties include maintenance of floors, furniture, and restrooms throughout shifts, as well as other duties when assigned. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Keep workspaces behind the bar and on the Taproom floor clean; keeping bathrooms clean.
  • Greet all guests within 5 feet with a smile.
  • Respond promptly to requests from customers in a polite and professional fashion.
  • Ensure clean glasses, bar equipment, and working areas.
  • Comply with all health, safety, and hygiene standards and policies.
  • Monitor inventory throughout shift.
  • Restock bar and retail inventory as needed.
  • Check glass washers for proper chemical mixture and volume.
  • Maintain soap and towels at hand sinks in all bars.
  • Collect trash from all barrels throughout shift, as well as wiping down walls behind trash containers.
  • Distribute clean bar towels; collects soiled ones and discard them in the appropriate place.
  • Promptly and professionally handle guest issues, and communicate problems and concerns to management.
  • Thank guests; offer a warm farewell, and invite them back upon departure.
  • Attend and satisfactorily complete all required training as assigned and required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • TIPS and/or Serve Safe certified
