Packaging Team Member

As Night Shift Brewing continues to expand, we’re looking for awesome individuals to help us create and
share world class beer. Currently, we are searching for a Packaging Team Member. We demand a lot
from every one of our employees, and this job is no different. A degree of self-sufficiency is a must,
coupled with an interest in learning processes, and a keen eye for process improvement and quality. All of
these mandatory requirements come with the ability to develop a leadership role within Night Shift and
to move around within brewery operations (though, honestly, we all do a lot of everything every day, which
you’ll do too!). The demands of the job will be changing throughout your time here, so you’ll need to think
quickly, and respond to changes quickly and effectively. We’re small and agile - we change all the time!

Hours: 40 hours/week, Mon-Sun, occasional overtime
Compensation: Hourly, competitive based on experience; we value our team members and pay above industry-average wages
Benefits: Health, dental, beer money, 401K
Start Date: Immediately
Vacation time: Negotiable, we're reasonable as long as you are too

Job Description:

  • Run every aspect of the canning line, from the depalletizer to palletizing fresh cans. You’ll know the CIP
process backwards and forwards; you’ll live with the canning line. The most important thing is an extreme
desire to ensure every can is packaged as best as possible (minimal dissolved oxygen pickup, minimal
carbonation loss, etc.) every time the canning line is operating.
  • Run every aspect of the Meheen bottling line, from loading empty bottles to palletizing filled, capped, and labeled bottles. You’ll know the CIP process backwards and forwards; you’ll live with the bottling line. The most important thing is an extreme desire to ensure every bottle is packaged as best as possible (minimal dissolved oxygen pickup, minimal carbonation loss, etc.) every time the bottling line is operating.
  • Fill kegs based on our SOPs. This will include cleaning and storage of kegging equipment, proper
management of head pressure and counter pressure within kegs, ensuring properly filled kegs, etc.
  • Clean kegs using our Premier keg washing station while following our SOPs.
  • Based on your interests, you’ll also be encouraged to develop other roles within the brewery (for
    example:
assisting our scientist with gravity readings, basic microbiology, and whatever else he does up in
    the lab).

Job Expectations:

  • Punctual every day
  • Complete tasks in an efficient, safety-focused manner
  • In-depth understanding of the Wild Goose canning line
  • In-depth understanding of the Meheen bottling line
  • Desire to grow within Night Shift and expand your role as a key member of our team
  • Lead and teach other brewery employees about canning line and bottling line operations
  • Understanding that the canning line and bottling line are an integral part of ensuring that our consumers
get a product we’re proud of, every time; help us maintain our world class standards
  • Flexible with the changing demands inherent to a young brewery
  • Desire to learn every aspect of beer production (even the nasty ones, such as yeast harvesting and
cleaning a tank that has a bunch of fruit in it)

Job Qualifications:

  • Passion for beer, hard work, and fun
  • Big plus if you have previous experience working on a packaging team
  • Big plus if you have professional brewing experience

Final note:

It is imperative for applicants to understand that the canning line is the last opportunity for us to make our product the best they can be. Everything that we’ve put into a batch of beer can be ruined through suboptimal packaging. While packaging might not sound as cool as brewing, we view this as a critical and extremely important role.

If you’ve read this far, we hope you're interested. Please send your resume and an email describing why you’d be great for this job to jobs@nightshiftbrewing.com (it doesn’t have to be overly formal, we don’t wear suits here). The deadline for resume submission is March 1st, 2017.
